CARRIE ELKIN - JULY 30,2011

Carrie Elkin is a soulful singer with a gypsy spirit, a songwriter with a keen eye. Inspired by her travels and the many places she has called home-- Ohio, New Mexico, Colorado, Boston, Austin--she documents the human condition with sensitivity and humor, crafting songs that have garnered attention at prestigious songwriting contests, including Mountain Stage NewSong and the Falcon Ridge Emerging Artist Showcase.
After settling in Austin, Texas in 2007, she recorded her album The Jeopardy of Circumstance. Produced by Colin Brooks (The Band of Heathens), the album received rave reviews in the US and the UK that shot her up the Euro-Americana Charts and landed her a spot on Bob Harris’ national BBC Radio show and several prestigious festival invitations. SHANNON STEPHENS and JASON HARROD - AUGUST 6, 2011




East meets West when Jason Harrod and Shannon Stephens appear at Fort Flagler State Park. Jason, from Brooklyn NY via Durham NC, draws from the best traditions of American music to create a sound all his own. His songs about lost love, found joys, and spiritual longing have garnered him a loyal following across the country. Shannon from Seattle, via Michigan, was born into a musical family where he father sponsored "hootenanny" for family friends featuring banjos and guitars playing old church hymns and traditional "American" music which she evolved into "Folk, Blues" Both Jason and Shannon began their musical career either with partners or bands but decided after a short time and some success to branch out on their own and produce their own uniquer sounds. CABIRI -AUGUST 13,2011

“Then Song of Chu” - We invite you to come with us as we dive into the dusty tomes of the past. Our adventure is just beginning and the magic only grows as we delve deeper into the world of dream. The Cabiri performance troupe is a Seattle-based ensemble of 12 dancers who combine aerial arts, acrobatics, stilt walking and fire dancing to create spectacular performances for audience members of all ages. These talented artists will dance, twirl and spin through the air with the greatest of ease on Daedalus, their freestanding 26' aerial dance stage.


KITSAP CHORDSMEN - August 20, 2011

Battery Bankhead will be filled with the acappella Barbarshop Sound of the Kitsap Chordsmen. The Kitsap Chordsmen are the performing chorus of the local chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The Chorus has an active singing schedule. In addition to preparing for competitions, they present an annual show, appear at seasonal festivals, and perform for corporate functions, and are available to support other organizations charitable programs. This award winning fourty seven man chorus is directed by Mike Menefee. Mike says "Let us take you on a "sentimental journey" through more than a century of American music.". The concert will feature the barbershop quartet Jaybirds. The concert starts at 7 pm so come early, pick out a good spot, and enjoy a picnic on the grass or at a table. Festival seating on your chairs or ours. The Discover and Access pass are not required to attend this event, however both passes support our parks so please purchase one so you can enjoy other parts of Fort Flagler. Admission is $5.

Port TOWNSEND SUMMER BAND - AUGUST 27,2011

The goal of the band has been to perform concerts reminiscent of those that were popular from the late 1800’s through the 1950’s. We found that if you play music, an audience will come. and the following has grown!

NAVY BAND NW - September 3,2011

Navy Band Northwest's Showband, "Deception Pass," performs throughout the Northwestern United States for a variety of concerts and events. Under the experienced leadership of Musician Second Class Joes Thiesfeldt, the group performs in a number of different musical styles. Comprised of vocalists, a rhythm section, and a small horn section, the band's repertoire includes rock, funk, soul, rhythm & blues, pop, and jazz, appealing to people of all ages and musical tastes..
